These may facilitate to identify coal bed methane fairway. Correlations between these parameters suggest that the V/I ratio is an effective tool to identify the coal seams with high cleat density, low cleat spacing and substantial permeability. Cleat density and spacing, vitrinite reflectance O/C ratio and permeability data were studied and plotted against V/I ratio for different coal seams.
